Recquatic is proud to support World Drowning Prevention Day on Saturday 25 July 2026, joining Royal Life Saving Australia and communities around the world to raise awareness of drowning prevention.
World Drowning Prevention Day was declared by the United Nations in April 2021 and is held annually on 25 July. The day recognises drowning as a serious but preventable public health issue, while encouraging communities to take simple, practical actions that help keep people safe in, on and around water.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people worldwide lose their lives to drowning, including hundreds of families across Australia. While drowning impacts communities across the globe, children and young people remain among the most at-risk groups.
This year’s message is clear: Unite to turn the tide on drowning.
Recquatic plays an important role in supporting water safety within the Kwinana community through swimming lessons, lifeguard supervision, Watch Around Water messaging, aquatic programs and ongoing education for patrons and families.
While lifeguards are on duty to help maintain a safe aquatic environment, drowning prevention is a shared responsibility. Parents, carers, swimmers, boat users and the wider community all have a role to play.
There are many simple actions people can take to reduce the risk of drowning:
Every action matters. Together, we can unite to turn the tide on drowning.
